Deepavali, also known as Diwali, is celebrated on the 12th of this November. Hindus enjoy this blessed holiday to honor the triumph of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, light over darkness, and hope over despair. In addition, Diwali marks the defeat of Bali by Lord Vamana, the destruction of several demons by Lord Krishna, including Narkasur, and the entry of Lord Rama into Ayodhya after murdering Ravana. On Diwali, people worship Goddess Lakshmi by performing the lucky Lakshmi Puja at their homes and workplaces and requesting the goddess' blessing for wealth, prosperity, happiness, and peace.
