Why is Christmas celebrated on December 25 every year?

The birth of Jesus Christ is honored at Christmas. The majority of Christians celebrate it. Sextus Julius Africanus dated the gestation to March 25, which is December 25. The birth date was chosen as a result.

In the third century, the Roman Empire had not embraced Christianity. However, on December 25, they had previously celebrated the Unconquered Sun Sol Invictus's rebirth. This event followed the well-known Roman festival, the Saturnalia, during which people feasted and gave presents. It also commemorated the beginning of longer days after the winter solstice.
